Many may already know, a few might be surprised: I am going to run a marathon this year.
It's been a pretty crazy journey so far...these are some thoughts that have run through my head as I have been training...
"Wow...I am so out of shape."
"It is so cold out here!"
"That is the fourth time that car has past me, I must look like a moron."
(After a glimpse in a mirror) "Yep...I look like a moron."
"What was I thinking? A marathon? You can't even handle 2 miles!"
"Make it home. Make it home. Make it home."
Yeah...these have been some of the thoughts. And after running 4 miles today in a blizzard outside...one thought has become my main thought. Make it home.
Make it home.
"Tell people." My brother simply told me when I told him I planned to run a marathon, "This will hold you to your vision."
He was so right. I began to speak the marathon plan to anyone who cared to listen, and before I knew it, I was accountable to my words.
Right now my goal is to run the NYC marathon on November 2. I am looking into several different possibilities of trying to join the race through the race's lottery system, or to have a guaranteed entry and run for charity.
All I know is this...I'm going to "make it home".

I pray for the same thing every time you go out... just make it home, Ben, make it home. And, by the way, the more I think about it, the more I like that name and the more excited I get about the possibilities it presents. You are my hero, honey!
